With the sex selection method it is possible to choose the gender of your baby before you
conceive it. Possible but not 100%. None of the gender selection
methods have been proven scientifically or medically, but there are
successes with the methods. Choosing to conceive either a boy or a
girl is not guaranteed but it's fun to try the methods and see if
they work!
There are several "methods" out there for choosing the sex of your
baby. Here are a few:
According to the way the Ancient Chinese Conception Chart works,
there are certain months that you can conceive a boy and certain
months you can conceive a girl. It all depends on your age at
conception and the month that conception occurred. Supposedly you
can plan ahead if you want a certain gender. What you do is have
sexual intercourse around ovulation on the months that says you will
conceive the gender you are wishing for - and avoid on the months
that says you will conceive the opposite.
This method did not work well with me. Here is a run down of my
births:
Okay - so the Chinese Conception Chart was only right for me one time.
My own conclusion - look at what it says and assume the opposite.
Orgasm is another sex selection method. If you want a boy, have
an orgasm during intercourse. If you want a girl, don't have an
orgasm.
Again, this method proved wrong for me - well right for the first
one - and wrong for the next 4. There are countless women out there
who had an orgasm at conception and conceived both boys and girls.
The Shettles Method is probably one of the most popular sex selection methods out there. This method claims that female sperm
swim slower and live longer than male sperm.
So if you want to conceive a girl you need to have intercourse
several days before ovulation. The slower female sperm will be
waiting for the egg when it erupts from the ovary.
If you want to conceive a boy wait until the day of ovulation to
have sexual intercourse. The faster male sperm will be the first to
the egg.
It's highly important if you wish to try the Shettles sex selection
method to charting fertility signs. By charting you can pinpoint
your exact day of ovulation. Remember also that sperm will live up
to five days in good quality fertile cervical fluid.
According to Shettles the female sperm are more conducive in an
acidic environment. He recommends douching with a weakened solution
of water and vinegar immediately before intercourse to help the
female sperm to thrive. And likewise for a boy to douche with water
and baking soda to help the male sperm.
I strongly caution against douching at all. It will wash all the
fertile quality cervical fluid out of the vagina, therefore
defeating the purpose of conception. Not to mention that douching
isn't recommended unless a physician prescribes it directly for a
problem.
If you do try for either a boy or a girl specifically just remember
that there is a 50% chance of having either one. Sex selection
method can work if you take all factors into consideration - timing,
nutrition etc.
