Pregnancy Symptom After MiscarriageThe answer to this question depends. It depends on whether or not you had a D&C. It depends on how far along you were. It depends on why the miscarriage happened. Ultimately you need to discuss this with your physician. Normally the average amount of waiting time after a miscarriage is anywhere from 6 weeks to 3 months. I have been through 2 documented miscarriages. The first miscarriage happened in 1997. On April 4, 1997 I was having bad abdominal pain. My husband took me to the ER to rule out appendicitis. Turns out I was pregnant. My cycle was due about a week previous, but I had gone off birth control pills at the beginning of March. The doctor in the ER told me that I was in the process of miscarrying, and 2 days later I had the miscarriage (8 days of heavy bleeding and bad cramps). By May 6 I wasn't having my usual PMS and took a pregnancy test. I was shocked to see those double lines! My OB ran tests and did a transvaginal ultrasound to insure that this pregnancy was okay - and indeed it was. I had conceived 2 weeks after the miscarriage! The odd thing was the due date for my miscarried baby was December 11, 1997. The due date for my baby this go around was January 13, 1998. But I had a history of preterm labor and my son was born 5 weeks early back in 1995. This pregnancy was no different and my daughter was born on December 16, 1997 - just 5 days past the due date of the miscarried baby! What better way to help your body recover from a miscarriage than by charting your fertility signs. I had a 2nd miscarriage in February 1, 2005. I was almost 6 weeks along. This time I was hoping to become pregnant right away again. But that didn't happen. For about 4 months my cycles were irregular, heavy bleeding, bad cramps. I finally did conceive in September 2005 and carried my daughter to almost 37 weeks. In 1997 I was blessed to have such a healthy pregnancy right after my first miscarriage. But the facts remains, miscarriage rates go up after already having one. I would caution against actively trying to conceive right after. Allow your body time to get back to normal first, then try again. So you see it is possible to have a pregnancy symptom after miscarriage. And it is possible to have a healthy pregnancy right after. Just be sure to seek the advice of your physician and get proper medical care to insure a healthy pregnancy.
