Chemical Pregnancy
A chemical pregnancy is an early miscarriage that happens within
the week the menstrual cycle is due. I was told by one of my
physicians that 1 out of every 5 pregnancies ends in miscarriage.
It's believed that just about every sexually active woman will
experience at least one miscarriage in her life. Many times these
early miscarriages are often overlooked as a heavy menstrual period
or a period that lasts a few days longer than normal.
Many women discover they are having an early miscarriage if they are
charting their fertility signs. These pregnancies can start off with
a positive pregnancy test, sometimes as early as 8 or 9 days post
ovulation. Thanks to fertility charting, you can often test many
days before your cycle is due to show, because you know for sure
what day you ovulated on.
The reasons why some chemical pregnancies occur may never be
determined. Some of the reasons are:
- Fibroid Tumors
- Genetic Problems
- Immune Issues
- Insufficient Uterine Lining
- Low Progesterone
- Other Obstructions in the Uterus
A limited amount of testing is available to try to pinpoint why a
miscarriage occurs, though it's not 100%.
You can take measures to help prevent these chemical pregnancies in
certain cases. Genetic problems, immune issues and obstructions in
the uterus are best handled by a physician. Fibroid tumors,
insufficient uterine lining and low progesterone can be cured fairly
easily with both natural remedies and prescriptions.
Possible treatments / cures for chemical pregnancies are: aspirin,
genetic counseling, heparin, immune testing, prescription drugs such
as Clomid and progesterone supplements in the form of suppositories,
pills or transdermal cream. Discuss all options with your healthcare
provider to determine the prevention necessary for you.
