Announcing Pregnancy

Pregnancy Announcement

Announcing pregnancy is probably one of the most exciting things you'll do outside of seeing that positive pregnancy test.  And unless you have your significant other in the know with you and in the bathroom when you read the test, you get the express joy of telling him the wonderful news!

If you do choose to have him with you when testing, it can be exciting.  He'll share in the anticipation with you.  I remember having my husband with me as I tested for our fourth baby.  I was a bit surprised at the possibility and told him that I suspected I was pregnant and did he want me to test.  Of course he did.  After I tested he was in there with me as we waited the minutes for the pregnancy test to display the results.  I peeked at it first and then asked him what he saw.  "I see two lines!"

It was a moment I'll never forget.  We hugged and proclaimed together that we were having another baby.  It was a very happy moment!

On the downside - there is a possibility that the test will be negative and he'll get to share in your sorrow too.

If you test without him knowing you can plan a surprise in announcing the pregnancy.  I was never good at waiting.  Once I knew I was pregnant, I had to tell someone -and normally it was him as soon as I possibly could.  Our second baby was announced to him via a phone call at work.  Our first baby I ran out to the truck when he pulled into the driveway that afternoon and I exclaimed "Hello Daddy!"

But if you are inclined to give it a little more thought, you could try one of these ways:

Call the radio station he listens to and ask them to announce the pregnancy.  Many radio stations are happy to make personal announcements during parts of their daily shows.  Just have the announcer to say his first name only - then call your husband to ask if he heard the good news.

Give him a card - preferably a Father's Day card (even if it's not June).  This will be a very cute way of saying "you're becoming a father!"

Give him a baby gift, something that the baby will use such as a bib or baby outfit that says "I love Daddy."  You can give it to him during a romantic dinner - be sure to wrap the gift in baby shower paper.

Leave him little treasure notes and hints around the home.  Little notes that suggest your pregnancy - such as "I'm barefoot..."  Or "Guess what's in the oven?  A bun!"

Wear a T-shirt that eludes to the baby like the famous baby with an arrow pointing to your belly.

Just use your imagination to come up with a super way of announcing pregnancy to him.  Have your camera handy to capture the surprising moment.  Make a celebration out of it.  Make it a memory you will cherish forever.
